I've been hiking naked for half a century. During that time I have met thousands of clothists who passed by on trails. The vast majority are glad to seen or interact with a naked hiker.
My first rule is: Act "as if" naked skin is a normal valid choice of hiking outfit. Never apologize or cover up when meeting clothists. Because I act as if naked is normal, I am accepted as normal by those I meet.
If we hide, apologize, or cover up when meeting clothists it signals that we know we're doing something "wrong." That's not the signal we should be projecting.
100 % agree. Just be casual and discreet, if you are a man don't thrust your genitals towards them or be touching them. Take the lead in starting a conversation by asking them a question, like about the trail ahead, it kind of puts them on the defensive. Tell them your goal of hiking further ahead and ask if there is anything they can advise to watch for. If they ask questions about your nudity simply explain that you are a nudist, live nude, hike nude. Invite them to join you. Engaging them in positive conversation makes them see you as non threatening to them.
As a man hiking naked I've found that women are a lot more positive about interacting with me when we meet on trails. Female reactions range from words of encouragement to wanting a picture taken together. On rare occasions women coming the other way have stepped off the trail to increase distance while we pass. Men I meet are social but less interested, except teenage boys who (rarely) can be critical.
