Another meditation outcome in relationship to naturism. The quote shared during my morning naked meditation was from Victor Frankl, the famous author of Man’s Search for Meaning: “Success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it.”
The quote is part of a larger paragraph that deeply resonated with me: ”Don’t aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long-run – in the long-run, I say! – success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it.”
How does this relate to naturism, shall you say? Well, in a very sensible vibration. If success and happiness must ensue, so is the understanding of naturism. For many, success is material while happiness is immaterial. Naturism seems very material: you are naked among others; however, naturists will tell you it’s very immaterial as it goes far beyond being naked among others. Naturism is something that you feel deep under your skin.
Naturism is Fundamental
So success, happiness and naturism follow the same path and are tightly related. Here how:
They are a journey. It’s not a destination, something you reach and are satisfied with. It’s a path, a trail, an experience.
They are an experience. You can read about success (blogs, trainings, books, etc.), about happiness (books, guru, blogs, etc.) and about naturism (reddit, blogs, forums, books, etc.) but the moment you live them, your life changes forever, as do your relationships.
They are social. Once you reach a form of success, you feel the need to share it with others. When you’re happy, your surroundings know and see it. When you embrace naturism, you want to share it with the people you love and you want to deepen your understanding of it.
A social experiential journey, this is what success, happiness and naturism are. In that sense, they are fundamental to our personal fulfillment. If success and happiness seem obvious, why is naturism fundamental? Because it’s a human superpower that we all have but have long forgotten.
Naturism is a Superpower
Every naturist will tell you they had a myriad of questions running in their mind when they started to feel good while naked and when they visited a naturist resort, beach, campsite for the first time. Being naked in front of others is scary. Being naked creates a lot of question regarding our sexuality, society, religion, culture and our mental health.
However, the day we discover that naturism is totally normal, is totally natural, is totally comfortable and is enjoyed, accepted and experienced by millions of totally normal and sane people, that day, a transformation starts. The same transformation that creates a butterfly from a caterpillar. It’s not magical, it’s not supernatural, it’s deeply human and deeply powerful. It’s actually a superpower.
Many says that being a naturist is accepting our vulnerabilities. It’s true. While naked, we are physically, mentally and emotionally vulnerable. Being naked in front of others is being open to any form of attacks, be it physical or emotional. Being naked in front of others is accepting to be seen and judged.
However, the moment you accept to be seen and judged, you become invincible. The moment you accept to be naked with others and to be comfortable while being naked, you become Wonder Woman or Superman. You move the shame, the blame and the fear away. This is the moment you discover that being a naturist is carrying a superpower that textiles don’t have, the power to be totally you!
Naturism is a Human Experience
As the title says, naturism cannot be understood until it has been tried. Not once, not twice, but many times. The first time is frightening. The second is soothing. The subsequent ones are eyes opening.
A vast majority of people may not even try. They will never understand, all that we ask is they accept our nudity and our willingness to live our life on our terms, where naturism plays an important role. Another big chunk of the population may try once and will never try again. The same acceptance needs to happen. Then, for the rest who tried once and want to know more, we need to give our hands, to walk with them on the naturism trail.
As naturists, we have to share, invite, explain, demonstrate, live, be proud and show what naturism has to offer. This means be naked whenever and wherever possible. This means being open about our naturism. This means asking for permission to be naked when possible. This means taking the necessary time to explain what naturism is. This means displaying success, happiness and naturism as paths to fulfillment, joy and enlightenment.
Naturism must happen, and the same holds for success and happiness: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. Nudity is normal, natural and comfortable, you have to let it happen and don’t care about it. Just get naked and let that sense of normality, nature and comfort sinks in. Welcome to naturism!
